To follow up on my earlier draft-day prediction, Ives is already 1 for 9 in the first round, although O'Brien White wasn't in the mix until last night, so I don't necessarily hold that one against him.
The ESPN chat is going to be the gift that keeps on giving, though, with gems like these:
D.C. United is up next with two picks and I don't see how they can pass on Stefan Frei with one of those picks. He's the top prospect to slide a bit so far. D.C. should go with Kevin Alston and Frei with the next two picks. If so, D.C. fans should be very happy.
Which is then followed by D.C. United picking...Rodney Wallace. And with their next pick, they go with...Chris Pontius.
I'll look at this more a bit later, because you could measure this not in terms of a binary, did-he-get-each-pick-right metric, but by the difference between when Ives thought a player would be picked, in terms of selection order, and when that player actually was picked. In that case, Ives is only off by one with Pontius, but it doesn't address the which-teams-need-what angle.
UPDATE: Wait, wait, there's more!
Chivas USA absolutely will take Stefan Frei.
Three guesses at who Chivas USA absolutely did not take, and the first two don't count.
