I haven't formally challenged Luis Arroyave on his MLS picks, but I'm going to try to make picks every week and, hopefully, wipe the floor with him because I don't think he knows the game as well as he thinks he does. Unfortunately, the first week is really tough, because you don't have a lot to go on, but here goes. I'm going to score these as one point for the correct result, two points for the correct score.
Seattle 2-0 New York
Kasey Keller plus massive debut crowd plus Osorio being overrated equals a solid win for the new guys.
Houston 1-2 Columbus
I don't think Houston will miss DeRosario as much as people think, but I have a hunch the Crew will come out strong.
Dallas 1-3 Chicago
Kenny Cooper will score, but Dallas will have prepared for Blanco and not be ready for Nyarko's speed.
Kansas City 0-0 Toronto
Toronto has been bad on the road, but they've been getting better. Which doesn't mean a win, yet.
San Jose 0-1 New England
San Jose's six forwards have a combined 9 years of MLS experience, and six of those years are from Arturo Alvarez. Not going to be enough, even if New England is without Twellman and maybe Ralston.
Chivas USA 3-0 Colorado
If this were at Colorado, it might be different, but Chivas has too many weapons, especially if Galindo is back in form. There's a chance that Terry Cooke on the right and Ivan Guerrero on the left may give Colorado some serious flank play, but I'm not convinced the Rapids have the tools to convert those chances.
Los Angeles 1-0 DC United
Neither team looks especially dangerous right now, so I'll guess that Landon Donovan > Jaime Moreno.
