Sam is saying that the deal for Krzysztof Krol is done, according to Polish media. All I have to say is that it's good for MLS to find a young player who hasn't quite been able to break through at a major club in Europe -- in this case, Real Madrid, at least at one point in his young career -- and bring him to the States.
At least a couple of Fire fans I talk to tend to bemoan the inability to get guys who can't quite cut it at the top levels (with apologies to fans of the Polish league, of course) overseas. I'm not sure if it's just harder than it sounds, there aren't as many of these sorts of players as people may realize, or if MLS just doesn't have the infrastructure to identify them. Which is sort of the same as it being harder than it sounds, I guess. So the bigger issue with this signing is if it's just an isolated case, or an indication that either the Fire specifically or MLS in general might be figuring out better pipelines for foreign players.
I seem to remember reading that Krol is a left back, which explains the title of the post. All things being equal, Woolard was probably next in line for that job with the still-imminent departure of Gonzalo Segares.
