There have been a couple of recent soccer items that seem to have a particular theme. First, Stan Kroenke has to sell the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Avalanche if the NFL is going to let him buy the St. Louis Rams. The Colorado Rapids? Eh, not so much.
And Slate is beefing up their World Cup coverage, but all they could spare was an intern. I don't know if it's one of those things where the normal sports writers just didn't know enough or didn't have the bandwidth, so they brought someone in specifically for the tournament, or if the guy working there for the summer was this guy.
