I'm finding it odd that TDS is the only thing I tend to write about. It's not really, because it's one of the only shows I watch where enjoying it and thinking about it in an external context are practically joined at the hip. I'm sure some people just watch the show and enjoy it in a vacuum, but the way the show has integrated itself into the news landscape, particularly after 9/11, is utterly fascinating to me.
Past entries have already dealt with things like the midterm elections, but this past week brought yet another potential presidential candidate from the Democrats (although not according to today's newswires) in Al Gore, and a conversation with Tom Brokaw where you could almost tangibly feel him "letting his hair down." Add to that some sharper-than-usual writing ("Officials stressed that Yemen is not our enemy, although it IS an anagram of 'enemy.'"), and wow, this show is good.
Sooner or later, I'll say something about the other shows I'm actually watching regularly. If you're really curious, those would be Fox's Sunday night comedies, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 24, Angel and Firefly. I think that's it, now that The Sopranos is done for the season.
