Score one for mouse potatoes everywhere. The overwhelming fan support after the cancellation of the Sci-Fi Network series Farscape seems to have given the show at least a short resurrection. Massive letter-writing campaigns pretty much begged them to bring it back, and apparently it worked. I have to wonder out loud how many people participated in this effort, and how many of them, oh, I don't know, vote. Because if you get so bothered about a TV series going away, but not about who runs the country, I have some serious doubts about your priorities. I understand the value of picking your battles (and for the record, yelled at the Chicago Tribune once when they yanked Mister Boffo from the comics page), but it still troubles me.
More subtle, I guess, is the apparent return from the TV grave of Fox's The Family Guy. After a strong run of DVD sales and syndication on the Cartoon Network, Fox is owning up to maybe pulling the plug too early. No word yet on whether the proposed new episodes will be back on Fox, or will run on the show's new cable home. While I've come around on the show, I would still love to see a certain other edgy cartoon cancelled before it's time make it back, but that would involve somebody getting their act together and finally releasing Duckman on DVD to get that same sort of groundswell.
Elsewhere on Cartoon Network, I'm loving the Adult Swim takeoff of the DirectTV commercials. And speaking of commercials, I was in the other room when I heard someone using a damn cool remix of N.E.R.D.'s "Rock Star" for something, but I have no idea what.
Bravo! Who can we beg for Duckman to get on DVD?!
