I've now spent more time reading reviews of John Kerry's appearance on The Daily Show than I've spent -- or will spend, once I get around to watching it -- watching the actual interview.
I guess the conventional wisdom is that this is supposed to be significant in the way Bill Clinton's Arsenio Hall saxophone bit was, but I'm not so sure. Clinton was able to introduce himself to a television audience that most likely didn't know very much about him. Kerry is certainly no stranger to Stewart's crowd. And as far as I can tell, he didn't do much of anything that would change the mind of that crowd given the candidate's treatment night in and night out on the program.
Which is to say, he's still dry, verbose and not nearly as funny or as cool as he thinks he is.
