Seriously, it's going to come down to that, and soon. Only one of that list of titles is a joke. And watching a bit of the "I Love The 90s, Part Deux," I was struck by (a) the fact that they're looking to the Hot Shots franchise for naming advice and (b) the ubiquitous presence of former Daily Show correspondents. It started with just Mo Rocca, but it would seem that Brian Unger, Beth Littleford and even Lauren Weedman, who was on the show for maybe six months, are hard up for work these days.
Speaking of those talking heads, just who the hell is Hal Sparks? His singularly unimpressive résumé seems to only consist of bit parts and these VH-1 specials, which makes for a spurious and circular argument for his being there in the first place, doesn't it? At least Michael Ian Black has The State to fall back on.
I realize that I'm probably nowhere near the first person to take VH-1 to its logical conclusion like this, but hey, I only just saw the second 90s series this weekend, when I had a strong reaction to feeling the least bit nostalgic about any period of time less than 6 years past.
