Okay, I admit, when I watched "...in Translation," last night's episode of Lost, I secretly hoped that nobody else noticed Hurley on the Korean girl's TV screen. Of course, the first online forum I checked on the subject was all abuzz about just that. It's never just you.
Still, I thought that was one of the best episodes of the show so far, right up there with Locke's backstory. And anything that involves more Hurley is good in my book. Loved the batteries running out at the end. I've heard that next week is his backstory episode. Here's hoping they don't blow it.
The pervasive feeling right now is that, duh, none of this is a coincidence. These people are linked. While Sawyer crossing paths with Jack's dad last week was a wee bit heavy-handed, and not necessarily consistent with actually sharing scenes with other survivors, I'm okay with it in principle. Again, as long as they don't fumble the execution. I want payoff!
As for the meat of the episode, nothing we didn't really know already, but I liked it from Jin's perspective. Sun has been a pretty strong character for someone who doesn't talk so much. It gives her more room to emote through expressions, and I think she's been great at that, especially against the backdrop of Jin's darker, and equally silent, stoicism. It should be interesting to see both of their trajectories now that they're free of each other.
So does this mean we should also get Shannon's side of her and Boone's story as well?
