Okay, so Comcast finally got their act together, after a fairly odd near miss.
On my cable, you see, Comedy Central only existed, in audio form, in my right speaker. This had been going on for a long, long time, probably since I moved into my current apartment. I almost took my whole entertainment system apart to find a faulty cord once before I just changed the channel and got my stereo field back.
Then, last week, I was watching my TiVo'd Daily Show, and got an earful of the Tower of Babel. The left side had sound, finally, only it wasn't the same sound as the right side. I didn't have the patience to figure out just what had invaded my audio space, but it clearly wasn't comedy. But hey, progress.
The next day, all was restored, and just in time to hear Stephen Colbert say "Quetzecoatl? Plumed serpent god of the Aztecs? You are a pussy" in glorious stereo.
On some level, the mono feed was effective in not being blocked by the ironing table and laundry that I tend to stack roughly in front of that speaker. Now maybe I'll have to put my clothes away sooner.
