Okay, so I TiVo'd the series premiere of Bones, and the thing that stood out the most for me, aside from the absurdly huge and super high-tech workspace and the fact that the forensic anthropologist put a flower on the girl's grave before the parents, was that they seemed to replace an awful lot of dialogue. Many, many shots where the person talking had their back to the camera, to the point where you couldn't even see their mouth moving. Mostly Emily Deschanel, who I liked for her oblivousness to pop culture references ("we're Scully and Mulder," ha!), but it may take a while longer for me to buy into the character.
It's a little too CSI-with-a-healthy-dose-of-real-life for me, from a first reaction point of view. Whether it gets a second is up in the air. I've got one or two new shows I may try on for size here in the fall season, although Threshold may lose out due to an awfully crowded Friday night TiVo schedule.
