So Comcast was supposed to bring me the HD box with the built-in dual-tuner DVR -- that will allegedly run a flavor of TiVo's software in the near future -- for my big-ass TV on Saturday. Except there was a mixup in the paperwork, and while the body of the work order mentioned the DVR, the important part up at the top said it was just an HD upgrade. And the tech didn't have any of the DVR boxes.
The result is that I got stuck with just the HD box until I could get them to come out and swap it, which they're doing tomorrow.
If it ended there, it would be a boring story. Yesterday, the new box pretty much flipped out. "One Moment Please. This Channel Should Be Available Shortly." Ad infinitum. Every channel.
I'm receiving signal through the cable. I know this because I'm still getting my broadband Internet connection, and because they sent me the reset signal over the line when I was on the phone with support. But no picture, no program info, no nothing. So far I've only missed one episode of Supernatural, which will be rerun this weekend if I haven't lost interest by then, and a Daily Show. I've got a couple of people on alert to record Lost for me tonight, and then I should have the new box tomorrow night and all will be well in TV land.
