The Predictable Hollywood Ending

So there's this rising chorus that Jon Stewart sucked at the Oscars. This makes me laugh. I think the Onion AV Club blog nailed it when they said "so the Oscars hire Jon Stewart to bring a Daily Show vibe to the Oscars and then are disappointed and frustrated that he bought a biting Daily Show vibe to the Oscars." What the hell were they expecting?

It reminds me of the uber-fans of a TV show getting upset when a late-night host doesn't give their favorite actors and actresses the proper deference that their fandom requires, and instead gives them the exact same treatment they give every other guest, because that's what they do.

Give it a couple of days for the meta-backlash against Stewart critics to rise up, and I suspect it may be led by George Clooney and/or Tom Hanks.
