That's right, time for more Rock Star: Supernova blogging.
Again, this one was good TV. You've got Dilana traversing the crowd, Magni's family stuff -- and you can tell the contestants are getting looser when the Icelander starts cracking wise, Zayda totally taking the guys aback, and the exchange between Patrice and Ryan at the house. Plus, Lukas got a comeuppance, which was long overdue.
I almost want Patrice to keep getting down in the bottom three just to see what songs she comes up with to save herself, but I also fear that Supernova might weight the voting more heavily than INXS did and hold her low voter turnout against her. Speaking of that, I'm waiting for someone to get more pissed off when they get booted, like Ty did last year. On to the leaderboard!
- Dilana (^) Gets the prize for getting the best comment out of Dave Navarro, or anyone for that matter. "Are those my pants?"
- Storm (^) While Magni did the same thing with Bowie a few weeks back, she did it better.
- Magni (^) You can tell Jason likes the no-nonsense approach, and picking a song with "home is where I wanted to go" -- or whatever that line is in "Clocks" -- was a nice move.
- Patrice (^) Still my favorite, but I feel like she could have fit inside one of Tommy Lee's kick drums. Her bottom three song selection has been top notch so far. Keep in mind that Suzie reigned the bottom three for a while last year.
- Lukas (v) I'm tempted to kick him down further for just totally blowing his tune, but his self-awareness saved him a bit.
- Ryan (^) On the one hand, he totally killed it. It was not unlike Marty doing the acoustic "Mr. Brightside" last season. On the other, he looked like he had that stick up his ass again.
- Josh (^) Great song choice for his voice.
- Zayda (^) She rendered the band completely speechless. That has to count for something.
- Toby (v) He veered way too hard toward Scott Stapp-esque over-emoting, which is bad on its own, but worse when applied to a Nirvana tune. And what's up with all the Nirvana tunes?
- Dana (v) A pretty flat reading of the Who tune. I'll miss her sort of "coming of age" comments about chugging a beer before coming on stage or getting a tattoo.
- Jill (v) I find it interesting that my friend Kevin dislikes her, because that cannon of a voice reminds me a little bit of Nikka Costa, although minus a lot of the funk/soul influence, which could make a huge difference.
