Technically, it's not the convicts, it's the writers behind the convicts. And the prop master. In last week's Prison Break, Dominic Purcell's character flips open a newspaper and finds a story titles something like "Hearing Scheduled for Burrow's Son." Which would be fine if his character's name was Lincoln Burrow, but it's not.
TV Guide's watercooler blog points out that the cons also don't have a sense of proportion when considering the somewhat large state of Utah, but my biggest quibble other than the typo in the paper -- which has to have gotten somebody either fired or demoted -- is that Linc seems to have no conception that he's a wanted man. It makes suspension of disbelief somewhat difficult when he's strutting around on the street outside the hardware store, making eye contact with pretty girls. I know he's been in the clink for a while, but come on, let's be a little more careful.
