Slow On The Uptake

It took reading an actual story about the new BBC show Torchwood for me to realize that it's not just a spinoff of Doctor Who, it's also an anagram.

Two and half episodes in, I'm sorta digging it, despite the fact that they killed off the character named Costello in the pilot. A bit of an X-Files vibe, without the uncertainty of whether or not aliens exist. Or maybe a supernatural CSI: Cardiff -- too many characters to come across like the venerable Mulder and Scully. With a little bit of Buffy Hellmouth and Stargate SG-1's alien scavenger hunt thrown in for good measure.

Captain Jack is a curious chap, to say the least, and a little unstuck in time given that his current guest turn on Doctor Who seems to happen sometime in Torchwood's future, due to the vagaries of when the two series are airing in America.
