The Price Of Technology

It may be ironic that, after all the kvetching about my CableCARD setup, the new TiVo HD box is ultimately more restrictive with some programming than my old Comcast DVR box was. Yesterday I recorded a soccer match from my Direct Kick package, and TiVo informed me that it could only keep the recording for about four hours. Since it's part of a PPV package, I guess this isn't surprising, but it sort of sucks. The irony comes into play when you consider that the people from whom I bought this programming -- that being Comcast -- did not place any such restrictions on the viewing of the recordings.

You can quibble and say that I bought the package from MLS through Comcast, and not from Comcast itself, but that is, again, quibbling.
