I first heard about this new Jay Leno show via a Facebook status update, and I hoped maybe he was staying at the Tonight Show, which meant Conan was staying put, which meant Jimmy Fallon wasn't getting a show, which, finally, meant The Roots would be able to continue touring instead of being his house band.
Not so.
On the one hand, I understand that humor is entirely subjective. On the other hand, there is so little I find funny about Leno that I almost feel it transcends that first hand. Why couldn't they have just given him the American version of Top Gear instead? He certainly knows his cars, and talking about something he knows so well, might actually be funnier in that context.
Of course, I can count the shows I watch on the Big Three networks on one hand, even more so now that Pushing Daisies has been canceled, so this is the equivalent of a tree falling in the woods for me.
